2017 Saskatoon Seminar

The 28th Annual Saskatoon Kendo Seminar was held February 24-26, 2017. About 85 people came from all over the prairies plus BC and Ontario.

This year we were pleased to welcome back Matthew Raymond from University of Toronto, Hiro Okusa from SFU, and Man-San Ma from Etobicoke. Bree Yang from Jungko joined us for the first time this year.

Raymond-sensei was the main instructor. On Friday night, he continued the nito instruction he started last year, and on Saturday morning he provided a more basics-focussed seminar. Bree Yang and Neil Gendzwill ran a referee seminar at the same time.

As in previous years, Okusa-sensei ran a iaido seminar on the Thursday night preceding the seminar.

Thanks to our club volunteers who made this possible, Lance Wall, Jared Fedorchuk and Ryan Chappell.

This year, we had 34 candidates for grading. Congratulations to all who passed, particularly Saskatoon members:
